How does K12-powered online public school in Utah work?
Online schools in Utah powered by K12, help students become independent, self-motivated learners by giving them a strong foundation and the tools they need to reach their academic potential.
An Academic Plan:
Your student's education journey starts with a personalized learning plan, which is developed by your student's teacher with input from you and your student. This plan is designed to address your student's strengths, weaknesses, and even interests.
As in a traditional school, teachers provide instructional support, monitor progress, ensure mastery, partner closely with you, and develop intervention plans if needed.
K12's Online Curriculum:
Students participate in teacher-led online classes called Class Connect sessions.
In grades K–5, the mastery-based curriculum is supplemented with hands-on learning materials such as textbooks, workbooks, and more. This combination helps meet the needs of different kinds of learning styles in the early grades.
In grades 6–12, the curriculum offers more collaborative experiences for students in their Class Connects.
The Learning Coach:
Parents play an important and active role in their student's learning in a K12-powered Utah public school. As your student's Learning Coach, you (or another responsible adult) help your student stay on their learning schedule, record daily attendance, and communicate with teachers as needed. Typical daily commitment varies by grade with more time required in the younger grades and less time for older students who are taking more ownership of their learning.
K12-powered students socialize with friends and peers through online clubs plus in-person field trips, extracurricular activities, and more.
*Families do not pay tuition for a student to attend an online public school. Common household items and office supplies like printer ink and paper are not provided.
