Hotel & Lodging Pathway

In this pathway, students learn what it takes to operate a lodging facility and care for the guests who use those facilities, either through direct guest contact or background services that enhance the guest experience.

Stride Career Prep* has implemented project-based learning (PBL) to hone students’ problem-solving, communication, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills. The curriculum in this pathway includes hotel and restaurant management, marketing, and human resources and is taught by experienced professionals from the business world.

Students in this pathway can prepare for a wide variety of hotel and lodging careers, including:
Lodging managers ensure that traveling guests have a pleasant experience at their establishment with accommodations. They also ensure that the business is run efficiently and profitably. Because hotels are open 24 hours a day, evening and weekend work is common. Most lodging managers work full time and are often on call.

Concierges assist patrons at hotels, apartments, or office buildings with personal services. They may take messages; arrange or give advice on transportation, business services, or entertainment; or monitor guest requests for housekeeping and maintenance.

No. However, you will need several years of experience working in a hotel or other lodging facility, as well as demonstrated leadership abilities. Our Hotel & Lodging Pathway is great training for a career as a lodging manager; we give students training in marketing, and courses in hotel management, hospitality, and human resources, which come in handy when running a hotel!
*Stride Career Prep is a program for grades 9–12. Some schools offer career exploration in middle school.
**Many Microsoft®️ Office certificates can be earned after completing one course. Other certificates require more classes to be better prepared, and students who participate in the program for at least two years will have further preparation for certification testing.
