K12-Powered Online Third Grade School Programs are Personalized
At K12-powered schools, we recognize that each student learns at their own pace and tailor our approach accordingly. K12-powered online third grade programs offer your child engaging curriculum taught by state-certified teachers who use a personalized approach based on student needs.
How does online third grade work?
K12-powered online third grade programs give your child a balanced education. Hands-on learning materials and engaging online lessons create a learning experience tailored to each individual child’s needs.
K–5 curriculum is mastery-based, which means your child can work at a pace best suited for their learning process. A Learning Coach, usually a parent or another responsible adult, guides your child through their lessons and works closely with the online third grade teachers to monitor student progress.
What will my student learn in an online third grade program?
Second grade students develop important reading and writing skills as well as focus on grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and speaking and listening skills.
Courses cover basic arithmetic, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Online games and animations illustrate concepts, while challenge problems, regular practice, and review ensure mastery of basic skills.
Second graders conduct hands-on experiments and study introductory terms and concepts in life, earth, and physical sciences.
History, geography, and civics open young minds to far-off lands, distant times, and diverse cultures.
Second grade students learn to read, write, speak, and listen for meaning through simple narratives, regular writing and speaking challenges, and games.
Young learners are introduced to great works of art from different cultures and eras, and learn the elements of art. Students also create their own works of art such as mobiles, collage, and stained glass.
The Spotlight on Music courses promote successful music learning as students explore and build foundational music skills. Lessons include music appreciation, music history, and more. Students engage in a variety of interactive learning activities such as singing, creative, dancing, virtual instruments, videos, etc.
What kinds of online third grade programs are available?
K12 powers three kinds of online learning:
K12 powered online public elementary schools follow the traditional academic calendar and are tuition-free* – like brick-and-mortar public schools. Instruction is led by state-certified teachers.
K12 -powered private online elementary schools include the K12 Private Academy and The Keystone School. Please be advised that, unlike online public school, private school does charge tuition.
Individual online third grade courses are available for purchase to supplement your child’s existing education. These courses are a great option for students that need extra help in a certain subject or want to be challenged in the classroom.
