Competitive Gaming: Benefits Beyond the Screen
Calling all student gamers ages 13 and older at participating K12-powered schools! The K12 Esports League is open for registration for the fall season, officially starting on October 12, 2026.
Gaming is more than just time spent in front of a screen. Participating in esports helps many students develop and strengthen teamwork, communication, leadership, and strategic problemsolving, all of which enrich the online school experience.
High school esports programs can elevate student college applications while providing the skills teens need to succeed in whatever postsecondary path they choose. There can even be scholarship opportunities.
How Esports Builds Student Confidence
Whether competing as a solo player or on a team, students learn to be creative and think critically as they solve a variety of problems and puzzles.
Students also often set goals and work together to achieve them, leading to a boost in confidence with each new challenge they overcome.
Gaming is more than a hobby. Passionate gamers find success through the many talents they hone while participating in school esports.
No matter their skill level, there’s a spot for them on the team.
