Volunteer State Virtual Academy (VSVA), a program of the Lewis County School District, is a tuition-free online public school serving grades K–12. We’re dedicated to inspiring and empowering Tennessee students through personalized, at-home learning.

Our Story

At Volunteer State Virtual Academy (VSVA), your child can learn in the ways that are right for them—at home, on the road, or wherever there’s an internet connection. VSVA is open to full-time Tennessee residents in grades K–12. We offer licensed teachers; a low teacher-to-student ratio for the attention learners deserve; FLEX programming for qualified students to work more independently; career and college prep starting in 6th grade; career-focused courses in the high-demand fields of both Business Management and Administration and Health Science; personalized career coaching; extracurriculars, career clubs, and other social activities; preparation for industry-recognized certification exams; and the backing of K12, a 20-year leader in online education.

Our teachers are committed to helping your family succeed with online learning. They provide instruction and support as your child works through the curriculum. And they keep the lines of communication open through email, phone, online “Class Connect” sessions, and online and in-person activities. You’ll also receive textbooks and other hands-on materials delivered right to your door! These offline materials complement the interactive online elements of the lessons and vary by grade and course.

Get Ahead With Career and College Prep

VSVA gives your student a unique opportunity to focus on career-specific learning while completing all the usual high school requirements in a virtual learning environment. Our career and college prep program helps students gain significant advantages for the future. Middle and high schoolers can explore career fields to discover and pursue their interests. Whether they already know where they’re headed or are just beginning to find their path, this program can help get them where they want to go. Career fields include both Business Management & Administration and Health Science.

Our Story

TNVA is open to full-time, Tennessee residents in grades K–9 (enrolling through grade 8). We offer a personalized approach to education; a rigorous, highly interactive curriculum; an Advanced Learner Program; and field trips and social events.

School Opening and Location

MU Prep held its inaugural first day of school on August 3, 2022, for Indiana residents only. For the 2023–2024 school year, MU Prep has expanded to offer our innovative, virtual full-time enrollment to students in grades K–10 in more than 30 states. We will also offer grades 11 and 12 in the coming years. MU Prep-Indiana offers a fully virtual program to students across the state and a hybrid learning option, including in-person learning at Marian University in the heart of Indianapolis, Indiana. Conveniently located, the beautiful campus is an inspiring place to learn and reflect. MU Prep hopes to expand hybrid learning models to other locations in the future.
