Welcome to the Hoosier Academies

Hoosier Academies is a public charter school that has received approval through Ball State University to operate two separate charters in Indianapolis and Muncie beginning in the 2008-2009 school year. Combining the accountability of public education with a unique blend of traditional, brick-and-mortar schooling and online learning, Hoosier Academies will provide an innovative, highly effective education for Indiana students.

The curriculum will be provided by K¹², and delivered in the classroom, as well as via an Online School (OLS), with materials—including books, even bags of rocks and dirt—delivered right to the family's doorstep.

Parents and students will be assigned their own Indiana-certified teacher to help guide and track their progress through the curriculum. Students will enjoy regular, face-to-face instruction and interaction at the school's learning centers and during monthly outings.

And student/student interaction will also be actively encouraged, so students will always be well-educated and well-socialized.

Hoosier Academies announce Head of Schools. Learn more.

Who is this intended for?

The Hoosier Academies will be open to all Indiana students. However, students must be able to attend a Hoosier Academies learning center in either Indianapolis or Muncie for classes twice a week. The Indianapolis school will serve grades K-10; the Muncie school will serve grades K-8. The learning center locations have not yet been finalized.

What are the costs?

Because it is part of the public school system, Hoosier Academies will be tuition free. The entire curriculum, a loaner computer and printer, and Internet access will also be free.
