What do pharmacy technicians do?
Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists dispense prescription medication to customers or health professionals. They usually work in a retail pharmacy or hospital but can also work for long-term care facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, or third-party insurance companies.
Job duties can include:
- Dispensing prescription drugs and other medical devices to patients and instructing on their use
- Performing administrative duties
- Reviewing prescription requests with doctor's offices and insurance companies to ensure correct medications are provided and payment is received
What will my student learn in the pharmacy tech program?
