Online schooling allows your child to learn at home, or wherever there's an internet connection, while enjoying the benefits and support of a school program. They'll receive a high-quality education that's tailored to their needs.
What does a typical school day involve?
Online Lessons and Interactive Activities in the Online School (OLS)
Offline Activities Using K12-Provided Books and Materials*
Instruction and Support from State-Certified Teachers in Virtual Sessions Called "Class Connects"
Interaction with Teachers and Classmates Online or by Phone
Online or In-Person Student Activities**
K12-powered schools adhere to state testing, school accountability, and attendance policies, just as brick-and-mortar schools do, and graduates earn a high school diploma.
What is my role?
As a parent, you (or another responsible adult) serve as your child's Learning Coach. You'll work with your child's teacher to help record student attendance, monitor mastery of online lessons and assessments, and in some grades, review student work.
Younger students need considerable Learning Coach support. In middle school and high school, students work more independently and the Learning Coach role transitions to one of oversight.

How much time will my child spend online?
In the younger grades, many of the online lessons include offline work. Students in grades K–2 spend about 30–40 percent of their time on the computer, while students in grades 3–5 spend about 50–60 percent of their time online. Screen time increases in middle school, and by high school, most of the school day is online.
How do students interact socially?
Students spend time with classmates online and through school outings, field trips, and other activities. In addition to school-based clubs, K12 online national clubs help connect students with like interests and passions.
