Find Your Career Path at a Destinations Career Academy
If you're a high school student, or soon to be, or the parent of one who is interested in exploring possible career paths, a Destinations Career Academy powered by K12 may be the right fit.
An online Destinations Career Academy emphasizes personalized learning and career planning through career-focused courses for a variety of fields.* Plus, because they are online public schools, Destinations Academies are tuition-free.**
How Does Learning at a Destinations Career Academy or Program work?
A Destinations Career Academy or Program combines traditional high school academics with career-focused electives. A Destinations Career Program provides similar offerings as a Destinations Academy; however, it is not a standalone school. Instead, Destinations' offerings are provided as a program within another K12-powered online public school.
The K12 online curriculum enables students in a Destinations Career Academy or Program to receive an education that helps prepare them to be college- and workforce-ready. Students can study subjects that align with their passions in career fields such as manufacturing, information technology, marketing, and health science, which vary by school.
While attending high school core classes, students also explore areas of interest and choose from among a variety of career-focused electives that will build appropriately along a chosen career path.* Successful completion of these courses can prepare students to take certification exams and the work skills competency test for the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate.
In addition to online classes, students have opportunities to take part in hands-on projects and competitions to gain practical job skills and experience. Participating Destinations Career Academies also offer students opportunities to earn college credits while in high school.*
Career Planning Opportunities
Career planning is uncharted territory for many students. That's why Destinations Career Academies combine personalized learning, quality online curriculum, and a support team that includes state-certified teachers and counselors who can help students decide on a path forward into their future.
A dedicated teacher works to start each student on a successful path academically by providing an Individualized Learning Plan to keep them on track. Destinations students begin thinking about and discussing their career interests and a possible career path with a school counselor to help determine their future goals.
