Letter From Head of School

A letter from the Washington Virtual Academies’ Head of School

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Imagine high-quality public school programs that offer the innovative use of technology, a rigorous curriculum from nationally renowned curriculum provider K¹², and individualized learning plans for each student that accommodate a wide variety of learning styles. These public school programs aren't imaginary—they're the Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA), and available to all Washington children across the state.

Founded in 2006, the Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA) are online public schools that serve Washington students statewide in grades K-12.

When you enroll in a Washington Virtual Academies, you enroll in more than a school. You join an educational support system designed to give your student(s)—in partnership with your family and a Washington-state certified teacher—a great education.

Not only does a WAVA education enable your student(s) to learn at their own pace, explore their interests, and achieve their full academic potential, it also provides a wonderful community and family experience. School outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating parks, local zoos, and other interesting sites help create real connections within the WAVA community. There is also a virtual bowling league and school assemblies for our high school students, as well as an ever-growing list of clubs, which includes a Yearbook Club, and many more. And because the Washington Virtual Academies are all public schools, there's no cost to you.

At WAVA, we believe every student can flourish when given the opportunity. If you're looking for a new option for your student’s education, I encourage you to give us a closer look.

We're proud of our school’s outstanding parent, community, and faculty support system. It’s a profoundly good choice for families who want to help their children get the education they deserve.

On behalf of our dedicated school community, I look forward to welcoming you into the Washington Virtual Academies.

Best Regards,

Susan Stewart
Head of School
