Team Up with Experienced, State-certificated Teachers

TXVA's state-certificated teachers are committed to serving their students and helping parents every step of the way

Stacy Ballay earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas State University. She holds a Texas certification in General Education K-8. In addition, Stacy is certified to teach English as a Second Language (ESL). Prior to joining TXVA, she taught second grade in the Conroe ISD. Stacy’s hobbies include traveling and horseback riding. This is Stacy’s first year at TXVA, and she is looking forward to serving her students and their families.

Seana Baughman received a bachelor’s degree in history and English from Texas State University, in addition to earning secondary certification in these subjects. After graduation, Seana embarked on a decade of adventure, living in Europe, Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisiana, and various parts of Texas. She has lived in central Texas since 1999 and has used the K12 curriculum since her eldest child began homeschooling in the fall of 2001. Seana believes that education is about the discipline and formation of the human person. This is why she is so pleased with the K12 curriculum—it reflects her own educational philosophy. This is Seana’s third school year teaching for TXVA.

Angela Deschner received her bachelor’s degree in business administration in marketing at the University of Houston at Clear Lake (UHCL) in 1990 and went back to UHCL for her teaching certificate two years later. She is a certified elementary and intermediate teacher, and all-level art teacher. She recently obtained her English as a Second Language (ESL) certification. Angela has been teaching for more than 10 years. Her education experience also includes the Houston ISD and the Clear Creek ISD, and she loves working with children of all ages. Angela also enjoys reading and art, especially ceramics, needlepoint, and jewelry craftwork. This is her second year with TXVA.

Jana Elam has served in education for over 13 years. After receiving her master of science degree in cognitive and computer education from the University of North Texas and various Texas-teacher certifications, she became a founding teacher for a middle school in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. There Jana taught students in grades 6 and 8; served as an adjunct coordinator for an alternative campus; provided technology support for teachers; and completed the full district training in gifted/talented education. She then went on to join a private school where she taught courses in several grades. Jana became a home educator to her son and worked as an instructor for Knowledge Points, Inc., supporting elementary and middle school students in reading and math. She is excited to teach for TXVA and looks forward to encouraging and being a resource to her students and families.

Chrissy Lang graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies. She holds Texas certification in General Education K-4 and Special Education EC-4. Prior to joining TXVA, Chrissy taught in Bryan ISD and Clear Creek ISD. In her spare time, Chrissy loves to read, scrapbook, cook, and bake. This is her first year with TXVA, and she is thrilled to be a part of the TXVA family!

Lorie Medina graduated from the University of Texas Pan American with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a minor in special education. She taught grades 1-3 in the Mission ISD and the Pasadena ISD for a total of six years.
