The Texas Virtual Academy@Southwest administrators are dedicated to making our virtual school an ideal learning experience for all students. Additionally, the K¹² support staff handles the technology and other back-end business aspects for our school, providing all TXVA families with a strong technical support system.
Dr. David Fuller, Head of School
Dr. Fuller is a co-founder and former operator of Accelerated Intermediate Academy, a successful three-site charter school operation in the greater Houston area. The school is well-known for serving at-risk middle school students and inspiring these students to excel. Dr. Fuller is active in the regulatory and charter school communities in Texas and is excited about the prospect of joining TXVA and expanding the school to serve more students across the state.

Leslie Smith, Academic Administrator
Leslie has been with TXVA since it opened in 2006. She has 12 years of experience in education and has served in numerous capacities—from the classroom to working on district and state level education teams. Prior to working with TXVA, Leslie served as both a regular education and special education teacher in the Pasadena ISD, as well as with the St. Bernard Parish School Board in Louisiana. She received her bachelor of science degree in elementary education, English, and dance from Sam Houston State University and has her M.Ed. in school administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix. Leslie has taught students in grades 1-8 and has served as a coordinator for gifted and talented programs. She spent several years as a designated mentor for local and state Alternative Certification Programs for new and aspiring teachers. Leslie has a passion for educating students in a way that helps them go beyond their realized potential.
