Letter from Our Head of School

Dear Parent,

As a public online charter school funded by state tax dollars, the Texas Virtual Academy@Southwest (TXVA) makes it easy for you to be an active participant in your child’s education. You receive a complete curriculum, lesson planning programs, books and instructional materials, and an entire computer system to access lessons and plans, including subsidized Internet access, at no cost to you—in short, everything your child needs for an excellent education.

The Texas Virtual Academy@Southwest uses the outstanding curriculum from K12 to serve students in grades 3-8 across Eastern Texas. Using this innovative learning program, TXVA provides an education that meets or exceeds state standards, and students demonstrate their knowledge and skills through state standardized tests. TXVA@Southwest, like all public schools, has requirements for advancement to the next level. In addition, our use of placement tests helps to ensure that your children will be starting at the level that is appropriate for them.

But TXVA@Southwest is not only about lessons. Teachers organize school outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating rinks, local zoos, and other interesting and enjoyable sites. These events bring families together and create real connections within the TXVA@Southwest community.

Not only are we proud of our school, we also believe that it’s a profoundly good choice for families who are interested in getting actively involved in their children’s education. We hope to welcome you soon to the Texas Virtual Academy@Southwest community.

Best regards,

Dr. David Fuller
Head of School
