A Day in the Life: Shaking Things Up
Just like you, kids get bored and frustrated doing the same thing every day, week after week.
The flexibility of the K¹² curriculum gives you the freedom to shake up your routine, which can help keep your kids engaged in their learning.

I like to schedule a game/field trip week. We play math and language arts games and go on a couple of field trips that we've wanted to do. We'll try to get outside and get some really good exercise time. I'll also spend some time reorganizing things and reevaluating our school time to see if anything needs to change.
The other thing we sometimes do is a "camp" week or two. I'll take a unit of history, science, something that we've wanted to study more closely, and we make that the theme for the week. Everything will somehow be linked to the theme—math, reading, cooking, art, field trips. These unit studies give us a break from the usual, allow us to really sink our teeth into the theme, and we learn a ton. We feel much more refreshed when we come back to the OLS.
