Board of Trustees

San Francisco Flex is governed by a California nonprofit public-benefit corporation called Flex Public Schools. Flex Public Schools has an independent Board of Trustees who meet regularly to oversee the school's management, operation, activities, and affairs.

The Board of Trustees defines, composes, and revises (as needed) the policies of the school and ensures compliance with its charter agreements and applicable laws and regulations.

The composition of the Board of Trustees reflects Flex's mission and vision. Consideration in the election to the Flex Public Schools' Board of Trustees includes the following:

  • Clear commitment to the mission and vision of the school and to the welfare of children
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization in some capacity
  • A reputation for and record of high integrity
  • A successful record of activity in education reform or community building
  • Willingness to serve in one of the following Board areas: policy development, planning, fiscal review, grant writing, staffing, community relations, or school development
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Familiarity with educational technology
  • Leadership in the community across multiple sectors
  • Integrity and credibility in the community
  • A desire to help the children of California improve their educational prospects and character development
  • Professional educational and/or practical experience, including legal and financial expertise
  • A diversity of backgrounds, interests, and expertise

2011–2012 Board Meetings

Board meetings will be held at 4:00 pm at the main offices of Flex Public Schools at 555 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 on the following dates:

  • Monday, October 17, 2011
  • Monday, December 12, 2011
  • Thursday, March 8, 2012
  • Wednesday, June 6, 2012

We will schedule meetings in Morgan Hill periodically and will arrange for online access when appropriate.
