Enrollment & Attendance FAQs
Who is eligible to attend Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy?
Students in grades K–11 who reside within the state of Oklahoma and who also complete all enrollment requirements are eligible for enrollment in the 2011–2012 school year.
For complete details on the 2011–2012 enrollment process, please visit our How to Enroll page.
How many of my children can attend OVCA?
Because Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy provides all the lesson plans and materials needed for K–11, many parents find it convenient to enroll multiple children in the program. We currently have families with as many as five children in similar virtual programs being guided by the same Learning Coach in conjunction with the support of certified teachers.
How much does it cost to attend Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy?
Since OVCA is a public charter school, there is no tuition. OVCA provides students with all instructional materials for the program. Students and families are responsible for providing computer and Internet access as well as some consumable materials.
Do you provide curriculum for special needs children?
Depending on a child's IEP (Individualized Education Plan), we can tailor our curriculum to meet your needs. To discuss your child's needs with us, please contact our office and we will put you in touch with our special education team.
What is the attendance policy?
OVCA works with families toward achieving a positive attendance record to meet their required number of hours. The Online School (OLS) for students in grades K–11 is flexible and allows learning to take place at anytime, night or day. Therefore, we require daily attendance based on the number of hours completed with no more than 10 consecutive school days without attendance.
Can I take a vacation during the school year?
The school calendar includes school "holidays" or vacation time. You will not have access to your assigned teacher(s) during this time, but you can continue to do school work. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. In some cases, with the approval of the Head of School, families in grades K–8 may request vacation outside of the school calendar time. However, these requests must comply with school requirements and the vacation may not be taken during the standardized testing window. High school students must align their vacation time with the school calendar without exception.
