OHVA's administrative leadership team represents some of Ohio's leading experts on school management and are committed to ensuring the finest education possible for your children. From providing expert tools and strategies to parent support, the OHVA team is dedicated to making sure that you have what you need to deliver a well-rounded, enriching education to your children. Here are some of the people who maintain OHVA's high standards of education.
Kristin Stewart, Head of School
Kristin has worked in the field of education since 1983. She received her bachelor's degree from California University and a master's degree in educational administration from National University in Sacramento. Kristin earned a doctorate in education from Capella University in 2011.She worked in the public school system as a K–6 teacher and, after 12 years in the classroom, accepted a position as principal of a private K–8 Christian school. Prior to joining OHVA, she worked with homeschool families through a charter school in California. Kristen's teaching and administrative credentials in California and Ohio have served her well, and she has been with OHVA since its 2002 launch.
Debbie Wotring, K–2 Principal
Debbie has been an OHVA teacher since the school's opening, and a lead teacher since 2004. She has a bachelor's degree in art education and a master's degree in elementary education from Oral Roberts University. Debbie became an Ohio-certified teacher in 1990. In 2008, she received the K¹² Founders Award from Ron Packard, chief executive officer and founder of K¹². This award certifies that recipients demonstrate exceptional innovation, inspiration, and passion for helping students unleash their true potential. In 2009, Debbie completed her Master Teacher certification through the Ohio Department of Education, demonstrating excellence inside and outside of the classroom through consistent leadership and focused collaboration to maximize student learning. Through all her years in education, Debbie feels her most valuable professional experience has been schooling her own children at home.
Shannon Burke, 3–6 Principal
Shannon has been with OHVA since 2007, first as a 4–6 teacher, and in 2010 moved into the lead teacher role at the third-grade level. She currently serves as school principal for grades 3–6. With a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Capital University, Shannon is licensed in grades 1–8 and holds a Reading Endorsement for grades 1–12. She began her career teaching fourth grade at a private school in New Albany, Ohio. Joining the staff in the school's second year, Shannon was able to build and develop the fourth- and fifth-grade curriculum. After five years in a private school, Shannon moved into public schooling, working in both online and brick-and-mortar settings. During this time, she completed her master's degree at Ashland University, focusing on educational leadership.
Amanda Conley, 7–8 Principal
Amanda taught English for the high school starting in 2007 and became the English department lead before moving to her administrative position in the middle school. While working in the high school, she helped establish the school newspaper, advised the National Honor Society, and mentored several new teachers. She received her bachelor's of science degree in integrated language arts education from Ohio University, as well as a master's degree in education administration. She is inspired by the families who take advantage of school choice in Ohio and enroll their students in community schools, acknowledging their commitment.
Jay Wollenburg, High School Principal
Jay Wollenburg was among the first teachers to be employed in OHVA's high school, beginning as a social studies teacher in 2006. He coordinated and led the first OHVA Student Council in 2007 and has assumed numerous leadership roles in various programming efforts for the high school. Jay was a professional baseball player in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization and also played in Perth and Adelaide, Australia. He has two master's degrees in education and administration and graduated as a Presidential Scholar from the University of California-Pennsylvania. He is committed to helping every student succeed at OHVA, and he is passionate about online learning.
Randy Grieser, Special Education Manager
As Special Education Manager, Randy works with all of our intervention specialists. Prior to coming to OHVA, Randy worked as a compliance support coordinator for the Ohio Council of Community Schools, which is OHVA's charter sponsor. Randy has worked in education and special education for more than 25 years. He has a passion for all students with special needs. From his endeavors as a professor of special education, to director of special education, to administration and teaching, Randy has enjoyed his experiences working directly and indirectly with all forms of special education. His number one priority is providing students with the best possible education while supporting them to become productive citizens in the future.
Teresa Boardman, Assistant Special Education Director
Teresa has worked in the field of education for 12 years, including 4 years at OHVA. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in education from the University of Toledo. After working as a local case manger with adults who suffered from various mental health issues, she took several years off to raise her two children. Teresa's career in education began upon returning to the work force. She was a guidance counselor before earning an additional master's degree and education specialist degree in school psychology from Bowling Green State University. Hired as a school psychologist at OHVA, she moved into the position of lead school psychologist prior to becoming the assistant special education manager.
Kelly Warnke, School Treasurer
Kelly has more than 20 years of accounting experience in the corporate, non-profit, and public accounting areas. She spent seven years at Owens Corning as an international accountant and financial leader. Before Owens Corning, she was the director of operations and comptroller at the Area Office on Aging of NWO, Inc., a private, non-profit corporation that provides services for older adults in Ohio's 10 northwest counties. Kelly is a certified public accountant (CPA) and received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Daniel J. Zawisza, Operations Manager
Dan is a proud graduate of the University of Toledo, where he earned a bachelor's degree in organizational development. He has more than 10 years of management experience, and previously ran operations at The Reuben Company in downtown Toledo. Dan takes pride in his community by sitting on the board for the Boys and Girls Club and serving as the entertainment chairperson for the American Red Cross for their annual Smoke on the Water event.
Susie Ebie, Parent/Community Relations Coordinator
With experience as a classroom teacher, veteran homeschooling mom, and OHVA teacher and parent, Susie presently serves OHVA parents and students as the community/parent relations coordinator. She is in involved in coordinating school activities for students and parents, and parent support initiatives. Through the use of innovative online tools and in-person social and academic activities, Susie cooperatively works with parent volunteers to foster a growing school community.
