Ohio's Public eSchools Secure Funding

A Letter to Ohio Parents from Our Head of School

Dear Ohio parents,

Many of you have already heard the great news out of Columbus that the state's budget—which was recently passed by the Ohio Legislature and signed by the Governor—protects and secures funding for Ohio's public eSchools, including the Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA).

This means that OHVA students and teachers will continue to receive the same high quality and comprehensive academic programs and services that have made OHVA the premier eSchool in Ohio.  And while the budget does include a small reduction in funding to all public schools, I assure you it will have no impact on our school offerings.

Thankfully, the substantial funding cuts to eSchools that were originally proposed by Governor Strickland were ultimately rejected, in large part because of the massive show of support from thousands of OHVA families and other eSchool families who rallied for their schools and made their voices heard in Columbus. So I would like to say to all of you who worked so hard, shared your stories, participated in the democratic process in Columbus, and passionately supported OHVA—thank you!

And if you’ve put off enrolling in the Ohio Virtual Academy until this potential issue was resolved, put off no longer. There's still time to make a change in your child’s education for the 2009-2010 school year. Enroll now online at http://www.k12.com/ohva/enroll/ , or by calling us at 866.339.9071.

Sincerely,
Jeff Shaw, Head of School
