How It Works (K-8)
The Minnesota Virtual Academy is a tuition-free public school that uses the K¹² curriculum, which is accessed via an online school as well as through more traditional methods. Materials are delivered right to the family’s doorstep—including books, CDs, and even microscopes and cell samples for science projects.
We also partner parents and students with a Minnesota-licensed teacher to guide and track their progress and achievement through the curriculum. There are frequent face-to-face meetings and events as well.
Student-to-student interaction is emphasized, too, so MNVA students are provided with a variety of opportunities for social activities and engagement.

Who is this intended for?
The Minnesota Virtual Academy serves K-8 students who officially reside within the state of Minnesota.
What are the costs?
Because we are part of the Houston Public School District system, the Minnesota Virtual Academy is tuition free. The entire K12 curriculum is provided free of charge, as well as a loaner computer and scanner.
