Letter from Our Head of School
Dear Parents,
As a publicly-funded program of the Lawrence School District, the Lawrence Virtual School (LVS) makes it easy for you to be an active participant in your child’s education. LVS families receive a complete curriculum, lesson planning programs, books and instructional materials, the use of a computer if needed, and the guidance of a licensed teacher. In short, everything you need for an excellent education.
The Lawrence Virtual School uses the world-class K12 curriculum. With this innovative learning program, LVS provides an education that meets or exceeds state standards, and students demonstrate their knowledge and skills through state standardized tests.
While LVS has requirements for grade advancement, the K12 learning program allows families and teachers to work together to help elementary students maximize their academic potential. Middle school classes are more synchronous, but still allow for greater flexibility than is typically possible in traditional schools. Placement tests are administered to ensure that each child will be matched to their level of proficiency.
But LVS is not only about lessons. Elementary teachers organize school outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating parks, local zoos, and other interesting and enjoyable sites. Older students participate in a variety of activities, including clubs, student government, dances, and even graduation ceremonies. These events bring families together and create real connections within the LVS community.
We are proud of the school’s achievements and our outstanding parent, community, and faculty support system. LVS students continue to excel in all areas of academic achievement.
