Lawrence Virtual School

How It Works (HS)

LVS high school students can be who they are, and then some.

Imagine a public high school program that lets students set their path to a range of post-high school goals, and gives them the freedom to explore their interests. From career preparation to college prep, our high school program is designed to help students maximize their ability to succeed after high school on whatever path they choose.

We provide a dynamic team of teachers to lead instruction and provide a connected school community. LVS accesses the K¹² curriculum portfolio of more than 90 core, elective, and AP® courses, including math, English/language arts, science, history/social sciences, world languages, music, art, and more.

While the high school program is designed to give students the freedom they need, students aren't in it alone. There are scheduled group discussions, chat boards, and online classes that connect students with an active high school student community. Regular teacher "office hours" keep the lines of communication open.

Who is this intended for?

The LVS high school program serves students in grades 9-12 who officially reside within the state of Kansas.

What are the costs?

Because we are part of the Lawrence School District system, the LVS high school program is tuition-free. Enrolled families receive the K¹² curriculum, plus a loaner computer (for eligible families) at no cost. An annual $97 technology and instructional materials fee is required.
