The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) is a global leader in accreditation, dedicated to advancing the quality of education through accreditation. Can I take a single course at your school and get credit?
Yes. In the part-time program at the K¹² International Academy, students can select one or more courses from the full K¹² catalog of courses from kindergarten through high school. Each of these courses will be led by a teacher and come with a transcript to enable the student to earn credit at his or her full-time school. Although it's certainly not required, we recommend that you secure approval from your school or district before enrolling in the course, to ensure that they will accept the credit on your transcript. For more information on how to receive credit for a K¹² International Academy course, please refer to Program Overview: Part-time Options.
Will there be opportunities for socialization?
Yes. The K¹² International Academy provides opportunities for students to socialize online in safe virtual environments. Additionally, the K¹² International Academy sponsors extracurricular clubs and activities in which full-time K¹² students can "virtually" participate. We also encourage students to participate in community athletics, clubs, and service organizations. As a result, students benefit from having friends in their online
school as well as in outside activities. This lends to richer and more successful social lives for our students.
In fact, a recently conducted study of parents with students using the K¹² program in the U.S. indicates that students spent four hours per week on extra-curricular activities, which is the same, or more, time these students dedicated to extracurricular activities prior to using the K¹² program. In fact, more than one-third of the respondents had increased the amount of time they spent on extra-curricular activities after joining K¹²!
For more information on specific clubs and programs offered to full-time students in the K¹² International Academy, please refer to Community and Events.
