Who can enroll?
Anyone in the world, where not restricted by local or country-specific policy/laws, is eligible for enrollment as long as they are not older than the age of 21 two months prior to their first start date.
Students enrolling in the K12 International Academy must have Internet access, preferably high-speed, though dial-up speed (56Kbps) is acceptable. Students must supply their own computers and peripheral devices (printers, scanner for certain courses). To access the online portion of the K12 curriculum, computers must meet the minimum hardware and software specifications.
Can I enroll mid-year?
Yes. In the K-8 program, mid-year enrollments will be placed into classes based on placement test scores. Students can then progress quickly through the curriculum by jumping straight to unit tests. If they pass the unit test (by scoring 80% or greater), they can move to the next unit test until they score below an 80%. Then, they can start at that point in the curriculum. The K-8 teacher will help students determine the appropriate course starting point. Students will receive materials for the full-year course regardless of starting point.
In the K¹²9¹² high school program, students can place into second or first semester courses, as appropriate, depending on placement test scores (if applicable), prior school transcripts and conversations with placement coordinators. Students entering into the second semester of a two semester course will receive the full year's worth of materials.
When does school start?
The K12 International Academy has several enrollment session dates for full-time or part-time students in 2008 and 2009. For current start dates and more information on the school calendar, please refer to Enrollment: School Calendar.
Is there a tuition fee?
Yes. Prices vary for K-8, high school, full-time and part-time enrollments and payment plan options. Please refer to the tuition table.
What is your withdrawal/refund policy?
Refunds are calculated based on the withdrawal date. The parent/guardian must send a letter, fax or e-mail to the K12 office requesting a withdrawal. The withdrawal date is defined as postmarked date of the letter or the electronic imprint date on the withdrawal fax/e-mail. In addition, parents of full-time students who are withdrawing from the K12 International Academy must contact their advisor and notify him/her of their desire to withdraw.
