Governing Board

The Idaho Virtual Academy is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of five community leaders, some of whom are also IDVA parents.

Dick Wagner (Chairman)
Dick Wagner received his bachelor’s degree at Northern Arizona University, and his master's in education from Idaho State University. Dick served as an elementary school teacher for 11 years before becoming an elementary school principal, which he has been for 26 years. He is happy to serve the students and parents of the Idaho Virtual Academy.

Reed Brimhall (Treasurer)
Reed N. Brimhall became affiliated with IDVA by enrolling a son with Asperger’s
syndrome, who had previously struggled to learn in traditional schools. His success at IDVA became the motivation to volunteer to contribute to the continued success. Reed also has a daughter who is “dual-enrolled” in IDVA and a local brick-and-mortar school.

Melinda Vance
Melinda Vance is a fourth-generation Northern Idahoan and mother of four children ranging in ages from seven to 16 years old. Melinda co-owns a business and serves on the 4-H Leaders Council. She is also a 4-H organizational leader and a community representative for Face the World, a foreign exchange student program. The Vance children have been enrolled in IDVA the last five years.
