Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA) is a hybrid-model public charter school. Students who participate in HTA are public school students, and must abide by state attendance requirements and state assessment testing. Students residing on the island of Oahu must participate in Learning Center classes one day per week. There will be a designated Learning Center day, to be determined, for neighbor island families. Students will be required to attend school on that day. The majority of students' coursework will be completed away from the Learning Center. Students need a responsible adult (Learning Coach) available daily to participate in HTA and must have access to the Internet.

Placement Assessment
Note: Your student's online enrollment dashboard will list assessments as not required. However, HTA will contact each family via phone to schedule a placement assessment. Assessments for grades K-1 will take a 45-minute face-to-face assessment with a Highly Qualified teacher. Applicants in grades 2-10 will take a 2-hour web-based diagnostic assessment. All Oahu and Kauai assessments will be administered at their respective Learning Centers. Lanai, Molokai, Maui and Big Island assessments will be administered at various locations. These assessments will assist in the placement of math and language arts courses.
For information on visiting the HTA Learning Center, please see our Contact Us page.
After your child completes the assessment process, you will be contacted by a member of our enrollment team who will discuss course placement. Based on assessment results, recommendations will be made in the following core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science, and History.
Important Note: Course placement and enrollment of all new HTA students will be marked as pending until a withdrawal/school transfer form from your child's existing school is submitted to HTA's main office. All withdrawal forms need to be dated between May 26, 2010 and June 31, 2010. IF YOUR CHILD IS STARTING HTA IN THE FALL OF 2010, DO NOT WITHDRAW YOUR CHILD FROM THEIR EXISTING SCHOOL UNTIL AFTER MAY 25, 2010.
IF HTA DOES NOT RECEIVE AN OFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL/TRANSFER FORM DATED AFTER MAY 25, 2010, YOUR STUDENT'S ENROLLMENT APPLICATION WILL REMAIN MARKED AS PENDING.
Once the withdrawal/school transfer form has been received, each student's enrollment will be finalized and approved.
Important Reminder: Your student will not be able to access our online school until you provide a withdrawal/school transfer form to our HTA mail office.
