Testing & Assessment FAQs
What tests are required as part of the program?
Students who are enrolled in Hawaii Technology Academy are required to take the following tests:
- Placement assessments in math and reading
- Lesson assessments to determine mastery
- Unit assessments to assess mastery of the lessons in a unit
- Semester evaluations
- Regular work samples
- Teacher conferences and informal progress reviews
- Informal Reading Inventory (IRI) (early literacy indicators)
- Hawaii State Assessments (HSA) in Science, Reading, and Mathematics
Do I have to participate in state testing?
Yes. Since Hawaii Technology Academy is a public charter school, all students must participate in the testing that is mandated in Hawaii.
