The First 10 Days
While the first 30 days are the most important to help you get into the habits and learn the skills you'll need to be a successful online high school student, the first 10 days are important to help you get acclimated to this method of learning. Here is what you can expect as you take your first steps down your path.
Day 1:
- Attend the online All-School Welcome and Orientation session, where you’ll find out about the scheduled activities for the day and the week.
- Start work in the Online Learning orientation course.
- Take part in online Q&A sessions throughout the day to check in with advisors and teachers.
- Check out the recorded online presentations about your school community, the big think12 (the global K12 online community),
- Have your mom or dad attend the Parent Orientation so they can learn how to help you succeed.
Day 2:
- Work on the Online Learning course for up to two hours.
- Attend the online welcome session for the Finding Your Path course and do Lessons 1 and 2.
- Start exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lessons 1 and 2 in English and Math.
- Take part in social chat sessions, if there are any scheduled.
- View "Secrets of Successful Students," a peer mentor presentation.
Day 3:
- Finish up your work in the Online Learning course.
- Complete Lessons 3 and 4 in the Finding Your Path course.
- Continue exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lesson 3 in English and Math, and of Lesson 1 in History.
Day 4:
- Do Lessons 5 and 6 in the Finding Your Path course.
- Continue exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lesson 4 in English and Math, Lesson 2 in History, and Lessons 1 and 2 in Science courses.
- Take part in social chat sessions, if there are any scheduled.
Day 5:
- Do Lessons 7 and 8 in the Finding Your Path course.
- Continue exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lesson 5 in English and Math, Lesson 3 in History, and Lesson 3 in Science.
Day 6:
- Do Lesson 9 in the Finding Your Path course.
- Continue exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend online check-in sessions for Lesson 6 in your English and Math courses.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lesson 4 in your History and Science courses, and lesson modeling for any electives you're taking.
- Take part in social chat sessions, if there are any scheduled.
Day 7:
- Do Lessons 10 and 11 in the Finding Your Path course.
- Continue exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend online check-in sessions for Lesson 6 in your English and Math courses.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lesson 4 in your History and Science courses. You can also start lessons in any electives you're taking.
Day 8:
- Attend live online session with your advisor or school counselors to wrap up the Finding Your Path course. (Woo hoo, you're done!)
- Complete your Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) using the information about yourself from the Finding Your Path course.
- Continue exploring and working in the Family Connection tool.
- Attend online check-in sessions for Lesson 7 in your English and Math courses and Lesson 5 in your History course.
- Attend live lesson modeling of Lesson 5 in your Science courses, and lesson modeling for any electives you're taking.
- Take part in social chat sessions, if there are any scheduled.
Day 9:
- Attend online check-in sessions for Lesson 8 in English and Math, and Lesson 6 in your History and Science courses, as well as for any electives you're taking.
- Take part in social chat sessions, if there are any scheduled.
Day 10:
- Attend online check-in sessions for Lesson 9 in English and Math, and Lesson 7 in your History and Science courses, as well as for any electives you might be taking.
- Take part in social chat sessions, if there are any scheduled.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure to log in to the Online Learning course, Family Connection, and your Dashboard every school day during these first 10 days. Should your teachers or advisor notice a lack of log-in or activity, they will call you to make sure everything is okay and to see if you need help.
Live online orientation sessions will be repeated on Days 2 and 3 in case you missed one on the first day.
