Who We Are

Hoosier Academies is a tuition-free public hybrid school chartered by Ball State University, The Office of Charter Schools. As a public hybrid charter school, Hoosier Academies provides the structure, administrative support, oversight, accountability, and state testing required of all Indiana public schools, in addition to providing individualized learning. Hoosier Academies operates two separate Learning Centers. The Indianapolis Learning Center serves students in grades K to 11, while the Muncie Learning Center serves K to 8.

What is a "charter" school?
According to the Indiana Department of Education, "A charter school is a public school that is nonsectarian and nonreligious and operates under a contract or charter. Under Indiana Code, charter schools are established to serve the different learning styles and needs of public school students, to offer public school students appropriate and innovative choices, to afford varied opportunities for professional educators, to allow freedom and flexibility in exchange for exceptional levels of accountability, and to provide parents, students, community members, and local entities with an expanded opportunity for involvement in the public school system."

What is a "hybrid" school?
In a hybrid school, students enjoy and benefit from traditional, face-to-face instruction with a state-certified teacher for more than 50% of their overall weekly instruction. The remainder of the weekly instruction is facilitated off-site with a Learning Coach. The unique blend of traditional brick-and-mortar schooling and online learning of a hybrid school provides students the opportunity to learn without limits.

The Hoosier Academies uses the K¹² curriculum to offer Indiana students in grades K-11 an exceptional learning experience. With individualized learning approaches, the Hoosier Academies and K¹² provide the tools kids need to succeed—in school and beyond.
