How It Works

Honors High Online Support System

Guidance Counselors

Guidance Counselors are available to help you in your transition to Honors High Online, and to help prepare you for your transition into the world after high school. They can help identify courses that meet your specific needs and interests, and map out a path to success, wherever you're headed. If you're bound for college, Guidance Counselors will help you through the twists and turns of the planning, testing, and application process. If a career is your destination, your counselor will help you use tools and self-assessment to identify jobs that match your skills and interests. Guidance counselors also provide support regarding both academic and personal speed bumps that might arise. Call or e-mail your counselor at any time, and remember to visit the Guidance Counseling section of the Learning Management System often for ongoing updates about career and college advice.

Know Your Learning Efforts are Fully Supported

Excitement about taking such an active, responsible role in your own education is probably mixed with a little apprehension. We understand this and have specifically designed our program to give you the tools, skills, and support you need to succeed. As an Honors High Online student, you will have:

  • The "Learning Online" mini-course is designed to teach you how to use all of the cool K¹² Learning Management System features, and how to be a successful online student.
  • An integrated calendar shows all of your course assignments in one place.
  • Live, Online "ClassConnect" sessions offer additional help regarding complex topics, or review sessions prior to tests.
  • The Teacher's Office allows you to find answers to the most frequently asked questions—or post your own.
  • The "What's New" tool quickly shows you what's happened in a course since you last worked on it—any new activity, information other students (or your teacher) may have added to the course, responses to threaded discussions, etc.
  • Course-based threaded discussions let you share your learning with other students in your course—and make some new friends online!
  • The Document Sharing tool allows your teacher to easily share assignments, worksheets, and other pages with you and the rest of your class.
  • The Dropbox tool makes it easy for you to submit assignments to your teacher.
  • The Journal tool allows you to record personal observations and notes about course content, or hold a private two-way discussion with your teacher.
