Testing & Assessment FAQs
What tests are required as part of the program?
For the 2009-2010 school year, in addition to K12 lesson, unit, and semester assessments, GVA students are required to take the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) and Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS). These tests are a required part of participation in GVA.
How is student progress assessed?
The Georgia Virtual Academy is a mastery-based program, which means students master concepts before moving on to the next lesson. Following NCLB and state guidelines, students are expected to make at least a year’s growth in a year’s time. Teachers will assess mastery and provide feedback to students and families.
