“We are really thrilled with the curriculum—it is easy to use and thoroughly stimulating for my second grader. We were in a private school last year and the opportunity to let my child live to his full potential, rather than at a class timetable, was something that drew us to the K12 Virtual Public School. Everything I had hoped for has come true. My son is going to be starting third grade math and language arts in March and we are thrilled. The private school had a good curriculum, but it didn't fully challenge my son. I am able to work within the program and at his speed and it is wonderful. – Connie P., parent of a second grade student
“In four and a half months my children have been given 410 hours of one-on-one attention! My oldest no longer waits for the rest of the class to catch up to her; my youngest no longer curls up into a ball because she didn't understand what the class was doing. We have wonderful teachers who help us solve any difficulties we are having. We have a wonderful curriculum. We have the benefit of going on trips with other families that are using the same schooling. What more could a parent ask for? ” – Jenny L., parent of second, third, and fourth grade students
“My fourth and fifth graders are enrolled in the K12 Virtual Public School in Wisconsin. The teaching guides and student pages are so extensive that I have complete confidence that my children master each subject! This education style is an incredible opportunity for my family and it works great. My kids can learn at their own pace and they are making tremendous strides. They are learning to take initiative and to follow through with assignments like never before. We couldn't be more pleased.” – Catherine Z., parent of a fourth grade student
“Our nine-year-old begged us to get him out of an untenable situation in his public school. I was very nervous about it until I found K12 and the Virtual Public School in Ohio. My son took to it like a duck to water. He loves setting his own pace, and he does whichever subject he feels like first, and our younger one joins in whenever possible. This child is blossoming in front of our very eyes, and we love the quirky person who is emerging. His confidence is huge, he loves the lesson assessments, and rarely misses any. If I had any idea how wonderful K12 is, I would not have wasted one second worrying about the decision!” – Jeanne F., parent of a fourth grade student
“My husband works second shift, many times seven days a week. If the boys weren't learning at home, they would go days in a row without seeing their dad. My children no longer have to spend two hours a day on a school bus. The quality of the education that my boys are getting is far better than any "brick-and-mortar" education that they received in the past, and we live in a very good school district. Let me also add that my boys are learning faster, and enjoying themselves while doing it. It's nice to be able to have a choice on where my children go to school.” – Elizabeth E., parent of fourth and seventh grade students
“We have homeschooled using our own selected curriculum, as well as enrolled them in schools that provided their own. K12 is the absolute best of both worlds—providing the core curriculum with a SUPER teacher who helps direct us with questions, keeps us informed of progress, and monitors our successes. I am not placed in the position where a school administrator is more in control of my child than I am. I find that overall this curriculum is well balanced. We can take our time with the more challenging subjects and not have to follow a rigid timeframe for completion even though the subject may not be mastered. In particular, I highly recommend the history part of my seventh grader's curriculum.” – Pam K., parent of a seventh grade student
“My seventh grader, who was opposed to the whole virtual school idea from the beginning (for social reasons), now loves it. I find her talking to other parents and their children all the time about not wanting to return to a public school. She knew that it was difficult for her to learn in a classroom setting. Through the years it broke my heart to watch her come home frustrated because she couldn't pick things up quickly like the other children. Math, which was the subject she disliked the most, is now her favorite subject. Thank you K12—the future is endless.” – Shannon Y., parent of a seventh grade student
“Last year I thought my son was doing well in school, but struggling a little with reading. Now after using K12 for a semester he is no longer struggling. I love the curriculum and he is learning so much. I really am impressed with what a first grader can learn if it is presented the right way. Today when we were doing math, he actually told me that the lesson was fun! Thank you for a really great curriculum! – Michelle H., parent of a first grade student
“This has been a really great system. It goes in depth daily as to what we need to do and how to do it each step of the way. It has a very good balance of online and offline materials for my kindergartner and sixth grader. It has made learning fun and rewarding. It is such a good feeling when my kindergartner masters a lesson—for both her and myself! My sixth grader is really doing well also. This system provides her the tools necessary to learn many things independently with little help from me, other than encouragement and motivation and praise with her accomplishments.” – Amy T., parent of a kindergarten student
“My second grader is a very smart young man, but very easily distracted and has a very difficult time concentrating for long periods of time. The one-on-one time I have been able to give him with this excellent curriculum has made a remarkable difference. I also have the help of an available teacher, whenever I need help. Best of all, the time I have spent with my kids is priceless. Watching their faces light up when they learn is something that we would miss if they were at a conventional school.” – Mary N., parent of a second grade student
“As a certified teacher, when investigating the K12 curriculum I realized it was second to none with regard to content. I believe firmly in the student/teacher ratio and am convinced that this is the best education available for my children.” – Jennifer S., parent of second, third, and fourth grade students
“My daughter is thoroughly enjoying the K12 curriculum, and I find it to be superior to anything else I've used. The Phonics units are very comprehensive and have allowed my daughter to begin reading before I expected her to. History, Science, Art, and Music round out the curriculum well, providing opportunities for my daughter to express herself creatively. The support I've received for the technical and academic aspects of the curriculum has been great.” – Gail M., parent of a kindergarten student
“This is our first year with K12 and we feel that our son is learning more this year than ever before. He is enjoying his work, and our outings have done well in working in with what he is studying. The kids enjoy their time spent with other kids, and are well behaved and well adjusted. Our son is learning to write compositions on his own, and to make decisions and think about what is reasonable in how things work. The accountability is very good and the help of our teacher has been excellent. We feel that we're not out there doing it on our own but we have a coach that is there cheering us on and helping us with bumps in the road. K12 is the best thing that has happened in our son's education! We feel that all kids do not have the same learning style, and K12 allows us our child to learn in the way that is best for him.” – Rhoda M., parent of a fifth grade student
“This past fall my sons were raking leaves in the backyard. I overheard my older two sons (K12 first and second graders) telling the younger two boys the names of the continents. They had raked seven piles of leaves in the shapes of all of the continents!” – Michelle M., parent of first and second grade students
“My two kindergartners are enrolled in the Virtual Public School in Wisconsin, and I could not be more pleased with the curriculum! They are reading and even go read on their own! They love Science and History and will tell family members all about which animals live in or around ponds, which live in trees, etc. Recently my daughter saw a map of North and South America in which the two continents are reversed and she pointed it out to the adult she was with! We have found that the K12 curriculum is far above anything we could have done on our own. Plus, we have the added benefit of an actual teacher for help and/or problems! My three-year-old is even learning along with us!” – Erica S., parent of a kindergarten student
“K12 has an awesome History/Geography program. My son is currently enrolled in kindergarten History. We have had so many comments about what he knows. We were recently entertaining one of my husbands clients from Germany. Our son knew where Germany is, what continent it is on, and that they have lots of castles!” – Shanna L., parent of kindergarten and first grade students
“I am a single parent of an academically gifted child. She did not ‘fit’ into the local schools, even before she ever attended. I came upon K12 while it was being developed and made a call. My daughter was four years old and loved it. We traveled for months at a time and still did class using a laptop and some basic materials. Now we are well into second grade in the Virtual Public School in Ohio. My child loves to learn, knows no boundaries to learning, and is completely unaware of the rituals of classroom learning. She only knows the joy of learning, not the boredom of group learning. K12 is the very best choice I have ever made as a parent and the only choice that I have yet to second guess.” – Diana M., parent of a second grade student
“I have been raising my 13-year-old grandson for the past six years—his entire school life. From his first day of school, all I ever heard from the teachers was how bad he was, how he disrupted the other children, and that he should be on medication. For six years my boy, who I protect with all my heart and soul, was being treated as a nobody because the teacher didn't have time. After school was also a nightmare. This tiny little child was carrying half his weight in books and homework. Finally, K12 came into our lives. I see a different child, one who is more sure of himself and not afraid to do his homework—in fact, he is eager. I am totally amazed at this new kid. He is no longer ashamed of himself and he is so proud of his work.” – Cinda H., guardian of a seventh grade student
“My fourth grader never looked forward to writing until the unit on poetry. It tapped an interest in him which continues to blossom daily. One day Scott interrupted what he was doing, got a piece of paper and started writing. I asked him what he was up to. He said very intently, "I just got an idea for a poem." He sat there for ten or more minutes and constructed a clever poem that he loves to share with friends a family. He has a desire to put together a poem book and have it published. I do think K12 is equipping him to realize that dream.” – Lisa W., parent of a fourth grade student
“My kindergartener, AJ, only used 10-15 words one year ago. The first words he spoke in his pre-school classroom came the last week of the school year. He progressed through the summer but we thought he might shut down again in a classroom (as he had in preschool) so we decided to use K12. He is now speaking in full conversational voice, with 95% of what he says understood by strangers. We are completely impressed with the phonics program and the remainder of the coursework is wonderful as well. I don't know where we would be had we not chosen to use K12 this year, but I am extremely grateful! This is an awesome curriculum.” – Becky B., parent of a kindergarten student
“We have had an exciting year at with K12 in the Virtual Public School in Colorado! We took a six-week train trip in the fall traveling to Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, and the Washington DC area. All the while we did our online school with the help of a laptop. When my third grader found an Alexander Calder mobile at a museum in Washington, she was so excited—“Hey Mom, that is from my art class book!” We also took seven weeks and went to Florida by car during the Thanksgiving-New Year's time period. Again, we did school four of the seven weeks we were gone. We used the cell phone to conference with our teachers so we kept with the program during our travels.
“Another fantastic part of this school is the flex scheduling we can do when we are home in Colorado. Both of the kids snowboard one day a week during the winter season. They usually pick a Thursday—no lift lines and no traffic hassles to the ski resorts. This online school makes so much of our family time quality time. So besides getting a fantastic education, they get a fantastic whole-life policy. To me, this kind of schooling stands for freedom, and we embrace freedom wholeheartedly. In our house, everyone knows that with freedom comes responsibility, and the disciplined approach we have to the curriculum has worked exceedingly well. Even with all our traveling and extra curricular activities, we will be finishing school a few weeks early so the kids can enjoy the summer and their friends. This year has been very successful and rewarding!” – Suzanne L., parent of third and sixth grade students
“My son was having trouble with the public school system. He was going to have to repeat kindergarten. We were heartbroken at the prospect, because he's very smart and wasn't being challenged enough. So we contacted K12, and ever since then my son has gotten the full education that is required for real life. I couldn't tell you how many times that my son looks at me and I see the light come on, and oh, how it shines!” -- Tiana W., parent of a second grade student
“K12 has enabled me to give my children a quality education while also instilling in them the values and morals my husband and I feel they need. They learn so much from the curriculum and we all enjoy the hands on activities as well as the field trips and parent get-togethers. I could not give my children this rich of an education without K12. I am so grateful to have such an amazing program!” – Carie C., parent of a second grade student
“My daughters were attending public school until this year when I was introduced to the K12 program. My second grader was having learning problems at the public school, and her teacher treated her differently than the other kids; it got to the point she didn’t want to go to school. Since using the K12 program, she has grown educationally and is comfortable learning at her own pace. It is easy for us to follow and it also makes learning fun.” -- Alana M., parent of second and third grade students
