Regional/State Wide Programs
Excellence in education
In 17 states and the District of Columbia, K12 is collaborating with districts to create schools to serve a wide variety of students. When it comes to providing services to state-wide virtual public schools, no one does it better than K¹².
Our partner schools generally test near, and in some cases above, state averages on standardized achievement tests. From offering consulting services, to challenging gifted students, to providing professional development to teachers, K12 supports districts every step of the way. No other curriculum is used by more students in full-time, public online public schools (grades K-8) than K¹².
One-third qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Meals Program
These public online schools provide a full-time, cost-effective choice for underserved populations without compromising academic results, and have drawn praise from both the public and private sectors. And the schools are more than just a collection of students; they are true communities with clubs, get togethers, and team activities that promote socialization.
What's included
Components typically provided in a regional or state-wide program:
- K12 curriculum: Developed by subject matter experts, cognitive scientists, and experienced teachers at a cost of over $100 million, this curriculum provides rich content and solid skills instruction in a sequence that builds year-by-year, ensuring that students are mastering concepts and growing continuously in knowledge from the earliest years through high school. The curriculum is complete, aligns with state standards and meets or exceeds all state requirements. Both on and offline components are included:
- K12 Online School (OLS): This robust, powerful tool is the foundation of the K12 learning program. The K12 Online School (OLS) hosts over 11,000 interactive lessons, presented in a mix of print and multimedia formats. The OLS also includes extensive scheduling and assessment tools, to help manage the learning process. Students with access to the OLS receive an individualized learning program, set to their academic level, to allow them to achieve and succeed with their own learning style. Teachers can monitor progress and attendance with a few clicks, making student management a simple task.
- Student instructional materials: The K12 learning program is complemented by a vast amount of instructional materials and supplies. That, together with the K12 Online School, provides a thorough, complete and high-quality educational program. From classic novels and math manipulatives to scientific apparatus, each course and grade includes a complete set of materials, so there is no additional out-of-pocket expense for either the student’s family or the teacher.
- Loaned student computers, printers, and monitors: All student computers come with pre-loaded software, including MS Windows XP, MS Office, McAfee Virus protection, and CyberSitter Internet filtering software. Provisioning and reclamations can be handled by K12, if you desire.

- Student Account Management: creation, storage and maintenance of a student account that tracks all student demographic and contact information, student course placement, computer information and other information necessary for school operations
- Administrator and teacher technology training
