Open Valley Virtual Academy Program Overview

The Open Valley Virtual Academy (OVVA), a program of Patterson Joint Unified School District, has partnered with K¹², the nation’s leader in online learning for grades K-12, to provide students in Stanislaus and surrounding counties a new tuition-free public education option. In addition to the complete K¹² curriculum, each K-12 student enrolled in the program will receive access to a certified teacher, daily lessons, and physical materials to supplement the online portion of the program.

Flexible Learning Environments

We recognize that every student is different in their approach to learning. Many students excel in a classroom setting, while others are much more comfortable in a computer lab, and still others do their best work at home. As a result, we provide flexibility to our families in choosing the best learning environment for their unique situation.

Students who enroll in OVVA learn:

  • At home.
  • Through whole group, teacher-led instruction using Elluminate Live!, a web-based meeting tool. With Elluminate Live! we’re able to reach our students through a "digital whiteboard" and provide rich content and delivery to meet the needs of the students.
  • At the library/media center.
  • Through Classroom Learning Stations that employ a blended approach to learning.
  • Through Multi-Station Computer Labs that are available from 8 am to 2 pm each school day, as well as additional evening hours based on student needs.

Again, students can learn in a classroom environment, in our multi-station computer lab, from home, or anywhere they have an Internet connection.
