Marine Science (Elective)

Course Description

In this course that blends biology and physical science, students examine topics in ecology, chemistry, geology, technology, zoology, meteorology, botany, oceanography, and marine biology. Students explore the classification, anatomy, and physiology of organisms in the marine environment, as well as the ecological function of these organisms as members of complex biological communities. Students analyze the origin of the oceans, the geological aspects of the marine environment, and the ecology of various sea zones. Special attention is given to the characteristics of marine ecosystems and the relationship between human societies and the oceans.
