Course Description
Students learn how to participate in a democratic society as they examine the development of the United States, beginning with an overview of native cultures prior to European influence and ending with the social, economic, and political issues of the 1990s and beyond. They examine the impact of significant people, ideas, and events on the development of values, traditions, and social, economic, and political institutions in the United States; the value and significance of historical documents and symbols in American society; and the place of rights, liberties, and the obligations of citizenship during various periods of U.S. history.
