Introduction to Computers and Applications
Course Description
Students learn the basic computer knowledge and skills needed to operate in the twenty-first century while exploring the past, present, and future of computer technologies. Students begin by examining the basic components of computers, including hardware and software, and then they explore programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Fireworks. Other topics of study include popular search engines; "malware" such as viruses, worms, and spies; computer ethics; and careers in the field of computer technology.
