Letter from Our Head of School

Welcome to the Community Academy Public Charter School Online of Washington DC!

Dear Washington, DC family:

Welcome to our online school! All of us at CAPCS Online want to make this a successful educational experience for you and your child. Your active support and cooperation, combined with our best professional efforts, will ensure academic success for your child.

CAPCS Online is deeply dedicated to the vision of providing a world-class education rooted in an ethical culture. As the founder and CEO of CAPCS, Kent Amos states, “We believe that values such as commitment, caring, kindness, courtesy, responsibility, and perseverance will make our children happy and contributing members of society regardless of their socioeconomic background.” One of the goals of our school is to provide each student with a challenging and rigorous curriculum that is not only appropriate to his or her academic level but is also aligned with DC curriculum frameworks and standards.

As you provide your child with a safe and stimulating learning experience and environment, we will work to ensure that each child is challenged as well as nurtured. Our program provides accountability through DC regulations and school policies; partnership with a “brick-and-mortar” school; feedback on student achievement through progress reports, conferencing, and standardized assessments; and flexibility in instructional strategies and scheduling. Field trips, museum visits, school-sponsored programs, face-to face and online instruction and other social outings offer students "out-of-the-classroom" activities with other CAPCS children, teachers, and staff.

We believe our school is a profoundly good choice for families who are interested in getting actively involved in their children's education. If you have any questions, our team would be happy to answer them for you.

Thank you for your interest in the Community Academy Public Charter School Online.

Sincerely,

John T. Sloane
Head of School
